Susan Brown Foundation

In a hotel room in Minneapolis Minnesota, United States early 2012, the Visioner (Susan Brown Foundation) had a divine leading to use her building and fish farm in Port Harcourt, Rivers State Nigeria for an orphanage. This was clearly not in her plan but after much hesitation, she yielded. On 26th of March 2013, Susan Brown Foundation was commissioned with an office and hostels for orphans at 47 Collins Owhondah Drive, Eagle Island, Port Harcourt.

In her capacity as Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, the Visioner reached out to the Clergy and Community Development Officers (CDOs) who in synergy with Community Leaders sorted out orphans who were brought to the home in Port Harcourt in addition to the number of children in the home in Port Harcourt, we have more than 70 orphans in 6 communities in 3 Local Government Areas in Rivers State.

"Thousands of children in Africa are living in poverty. We intend to bring about a change..." "Children's home, women's empowerment and Youth development (Save our youth)" are the three initiatives that define my passion and vision."

In 2018, we commenced our Youth Development programme titled: Save Our Youths. It is a social Regeneration, Reinvigoration and Reorientation programme designed to restore our youth and train them in various skills to make them self reliant.  We have trained many youths in different skills and many more are in waiting list.

“Save our Youths” initiative has over 170 registered youths. It's major focus is geared towards impacting young persons meaningfully and guard against social vices (cultism, gangster’s, drug addiction, kidnapping prostitution). Every activity on this platform is designed to meaningfully engage the subscribers and make them enterprising. The foundation also engages them in mentorship and character molding sessions to bring out the best in them and make them useful to the society. This mentorship aspect of the “save our youth” project presents opportunity for individuals and corporate organizations.

The foundation started with the women empowerment. Encouraging and helping women take up small scale businesses to support themselves and their families… also giving loans. The programme has been on pause because of inadequate funds. As the foundation grows, we hope to continue supporting this women to be able to cater for themselves.
